Piecing the evening together

Normally on Sad Patterns, we focus on vintage patterns because, let’s face it, mistakes were made. Usually those mistakes come from Simplicity, but I digress…

Today, we’re looking at a little concoction of patchwork nonsense from a modern pattern company.

Now, I’m not going to say this dress is ugly, but I will say that if this frock was an actual empire, it would have crumbled to the ground CENTURIES ago.

The title suggests that this is an evening dress.
Umm, who are you spending your evening with? Bozo the clown?

Honestly, this was my first reaction to seeing this pattern:

I’d also like to give a warm, fuzzy shout-out to my big sister, Yvonne, who would never be caught dead in a hideous patchwork dress that looks like it was purchased from a garage sale on Hee-Haw.

Yvonne, thank you for being a sensible human being and for have more fashion sense than the Anna Maria Horner patternmaking company ever will.
